About Me
My name is Austin Price. I’m a writer, editor, and photographer with a particular interest in the environment, farm and food systems, grassroots advocacy, and public policy. In the last decade, I have worked as a journalist, magazine editor, science writer, multimedia producer, and communications specialist, primarily in the context of nonprofit media, environmental and social advocacy organizations, and higher education. My current role is Communications Coordinator at the Berkeley Food Institute, a food systems research and policy center based at the University of California, Berkeley.
Aside from my professional career, I’ve worked as a farm hand in Georgia and Canada’s Northwest Territories and a deli clerk at a mercantile in rural Montana. My work is also heavily inspired by my experiences as a parent, homebrewer, gardener, fermenter, and hobbyist musician (guitar, mandolin, and Irish bouzouki). I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with my wife, dog, and two kids.
